HUJ Diary release function was a unique affair. For the first time neither a politician nor a bureaucrat was called to release the HUJ diary. Intending to register their protest the Diary was released by the Journalists who bore the brunt of the Police when they attacked the media in Osmania University last year. The HUJ also presented cheques to all those journalist-victims of police attack in OU as a token of solidarity.
The HUJ & APUWJ vowed that they would take the fight to the government till the victims are assured just compensation and the honouring of the assurance that there wouldn't be any further attacks on duty bound journalists. It was also resolved in the meeting that Feb-13th 2011-would be celebrated as anniversary of State Government's failure in paying the compensation and also in not honouring the Press Council of India recommendations for compensation, punishing the guilty and taking measures to ensure the telecasting of free & fair media coverage without any fear or favour.
Many renowned journalists criticised the restrictions imposed by the Police in the name of NBA, more so by the managementsin not telecasting the violent suppressive measures being undertaken by the security forces in OU & Telangana region.
